Yes, the Smart Pet Door can open at a 90 degree or 120 degree angle. You can set this preference in the Pawport app.

The Smart Pet Door has multiple power options to allow flexibility and convenience:

• Keep your Smart Pet Door plugged in at all times using the included USB-C charging cable.
• For no-plug operation, you can opt to hardwire your system. Check out our Concealed Power Kit for additional information on this option.
• For cordless operation, our Rechargeable-Lithium Ion Battery allows you the freedom to install your door anywhere in your home. Recharge by plugging the USB-C cable into the door, or by using the separate Charging Dock.

No Wi-Fi connection is required to operate the Smart Pet Door or the Smart Pet Tag. The unit is powered via plug-in or battery. However, in order to control your Pawport remotely through the Pawport app, a stable Wi-Fi connection is required. You can always control your Smart Pet Door via the top control panel directly on the unit as well.

No need to worry about the security of your home or your pet if your Wi-Fi fails. No Wi-Fi connection is required to operate the Smart Pet Door or the Smart Pet Tag. Your pet will still be able to come and go as they please, as long as your Smart Pet Door is supported by either Pawport battery pack in case of power failure. You can check the remaining battery life at any time in the Pawport app or directly on the top control panel.

The Smart Pet Door opens only when your pet approaches while wearing our Smart Pet Tag. You control the distance from the door in the app. Your Smart Pet Door is completely customizable to your and your pets needs with the help of the Pawport app.

The Pawport app allows you to have up to 10 Smart Pet Tags paired to the same Smart Pet Door. However, there is no limit to the number of pet profiles that you can have on your app profile.

The Smart Pet Door is secured with two solid steel deadbolts that latch into our high-strength steel frame, providing maximum security against intrusion. It is always locked other than to open for your pet when it approaches with the Smart Collar Tag. The Smart Pet Door can be locked - even for your pet - remotely via the Pawport app or by tapping the lock/unlock icon directly on the top of the unit. You can also set a schedule to lock the door so that your pet cannot go outside at certain times (i.e. a curfew).

The Smart Pet Door can be adjusted to stay open for 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or 15 seconds. You can set this preference in the Pawport app and change it at any time.

You can adjust and set your preferred sensitivity range in the Pawport app. The Smart Pet Door allows for a range of approximately 1-6 feet, and anywhere in between. You can set different distance preferences for inside and outside of your home. When your pet approaches the designated range, Pawport will detect their presence and the doors will open.

Yes. The Pawport app allows you to set specific permissions for each pet, including the doors they are allowed to access. Read more about pet permissions in the app here.

Yes. If your guest pet has their own Pawport at home, you can allow their Smart Pet Tag to access your door. Alternatively, you can use the app or top controls to manually open your Smart Pet Door.

Yes! Don’t want your pet going out at night? Simply add a schedule in the Pawport app to keep your pet inside - or outside - when you want.

No need to worry if your pet is outside after their curfew begins. Your Smart Pet Door, in combination with your Smart Pet Tag, will recognize that your pet is still outside and allow your pet to re-enter your home. After they have come back inside, Pawport will not let them back out until the curfew ends.

Yes. Toggle on rain or lightning detection in the Pawport app so the door will automatically lock if rain or lightning is detected in your immediate area, keeping your pets safe and dry. Pets can still come inside if they are already outside.

Yes, and no. While Pawport is not purposefully designed to stop bullets, and won't stop most high-velocity ammunition, it can stop some smaller, low caliber rounds in certain conditions. Pawport is first and foremost a security door. We’ve shot it. We’ve bashed it with sledgehammers. We’ve kicked it…repeatedly. Punched it. Dropped it. And more…Pawport is built from thick, dual walled aircraft grade aluminum and high-strength steel, with dual steel dead bolts. The first time you lift it up to install it, you’ll immediately know why we tried to shoot it in the first place. So don’t let its good looks fool you!

Pawport is equipped with our Anti-Pinch Safety feature, allowing the doors to open and close slowly and safely. The doors will reopen at the slightest resistance to ensure that no pet can be injured or stuck in the doors.

Yes. If someone tries to force your Smart Pet Door open, an alarm will sound and you will be alerted on your phone.

The Smart Pet Door is designed for indoor use only. It must be installed in one of the following ways to ensure adequate protection from weather:

• In combination with a Pawport Outdoor Pet Door for the ultimate in security, weatherproofing, and style.
• In an area with ample overhead coverage such as a patio or sheltered porch where no rain directly enters the tunnel.
• Onto or over an existing pet door frame, where the original flap must remain in place to provide a rain barrier.

It is essential that water is kept out of the tunnel opening. The Smart Pet Door is not waterproof on its own (the Pawport Outdoor Pet Door is water and weatherproof). If no secondary weather protection is used as described above, the door must be installed with minimal exposure to rain, snow, or moisture.

The Smart Pet Door should operate only between -31°C - 60°C with no battery installed. If a battery is installed into your Smart Pet Door, the safe operating temperature is between 0°C and 50°C. 

Unlike other pet doors where a pet has to push a flap with its face, Pawport opens wide and welcomes them through just like the doors they are used to. Most pets will get the hang of it instantly. Pawport eliminates the training required for traditional pet doors because they don’t have to push with their face. Watch this video for recommendations if your pet doesn’t go through right away.
