Bruce in 2023. The kindest soul.
Bruce is 105 pounds of the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet, who brings happiness and joy wherever he goes. Bruce loves to go outside into his big yard, where birds are plentiful, the soft grass underfoot is pure heaven, and the wind brings with it a steady stream of nose-twitching delights. Which means, of course, that our family is constantly letting Bruce outside. Outside, inside, outside, inside, outside… But hey, it’s his world - we’re just living in it!
We could avoid this if we want to. The home we bought has two pet doors, so Bruce technically could live his dream and come and go as he pleases. They’re the standard kind, with the flimsy vinyl flaps. They aren’t pretty to say the least. But Bruce doesn’t even know we have them! We keep them hidden behind furniture, and they are permanently covered. Why? Well, aside from being unsightly, they are a serious security risk. Here in Scottsdale, Arizona, wildlife abounds. Coyotes, bobcats, javelinas (wild pigs), and rattlesnakes are plentiful, and every year there are multiple reports of these wild animals (not to mention scorpions and spiders!) entering homes through pet doors. Not exactly a morning coffee experience we want! Similar risks exist everywhere, albeit with different animals, and everything from burglars to alligators, raccoons to deer, and many other creatures have been reported entering homes through pet doors around the country. There has to be a better option.
Bruce as an 8 week old puppy in 2015, already loving the outdoors.
This is what inspired Pawport. Pawport instantly transforms ordinary pet doors into smart, secure, decorative features of your home that your pet can use safely. No more bugs waltzing in. No more indoor air escaping outside. No more wildlife entering. And no more burglars crawling through. We set out to create an uncompromising product of the highest quality and materials that your family can enjoy for many years, so good girls and boys like Bruce can be free to come and go as they please, with you always in control and always aware of their activity.
Sadly, Bruce will never get his Pawport. He tragically passed away at the young age of 8 in December, 2023, from a very aggressive auto-immune disease that he fought bravely for ten exhausting days. Our family and an animal surgical team did everything we possibly could 24/7 to save him, and we were all absolutely devastated at his passing.
Getting wet in the sprinklers and guarding his ball were high priorities for Bruce.
Today, we present Pawport to you in Bruce’s honor. We’ve poured our hearts and souls into developing a product worthy of his legacy. Nobody would have enjoyed using it more, but we hope that the spark he inspired can allow your pet to enjoy the pure freedom Bruce never got.
Security for you, freedom for your pet. That’s Pawport. We’re certain Bruce would approve.
Warmest Regards,
