Size & Install Guide

For retrofit installations, if your home already has a pet door installed in a wall or door, upgrading to Pawport is quick and easy. Choose a Pawport size that is slightly larger than your existing pet door opening, and Pawport will easily adjust to fit. Measure only the actual opening in your door or wall, not the entire outside edge to outside edge of your pet door frame. Existing openings must measure no larger than 13.25” W × 24.25” H in order for Pawport to be able to retrofit over it.

For retrofit installations on a pet door that is part of a sliding glass door insert, upgrading to Pawport is easy. Our Sliding Glass Door Adapters are available separately to allow for Pawport to mount onto most common sliding glass door inserts. Choose a Pawport size that is slightly larger than your existing pet door opening, and Pawport will easily adjust to fit. Measure only the actual opening in your pet door insert, not the entire outside edge to outside edge of your pet door insert frame. Existing openings must measure no larger than 13.25” W × 24.25” H in order for Pawport to be able to retrofit over it.

For new or remodel installations in any wall between 4” and 10.5” thick, the Pawport Tunnel and Frame System adapts to your wall thickness, allowing for flexible mounting options for your Pawport. For even thicker walls, Tunnel Extension Kits can be purchased to create a tunnel length of virtually any size. The Tunnel and Frame System supports compatible Pawport accessories, upgrades, and expanded functionality over time.

For new or remodel installations, the Pawport Tunnel & Frame System is used to install Pawport onto an exterior door, such as a back patio door, garage entry door, side yard door, or other door leading outside. The Pawport Tunnel & Frame System may be used on doors as thin as ⅝” and up, and supports compatible accessories, upgrades, and expanded functionality over time. Use fasteners that are appropriate for the surface (i.e. wood screws, self-tapping metal screws, fiberglass screws, etc.).

For new or remodel installations, the Pawport Tunnel & Frame System is used to install Pawport onto an interior door, such as a bedroom door, laundry room door, office door, or other door between rooms in your home. Interior doors are commonly hollow-core doors, but can be solid core. For hollow core, adding blocking inside the door to facilitate the mount is recommended.

For new installations, the Pawport Glass Mount is used to install a pet door anywhere into a glass door or window that is at least 1/2” thick, such as from a window pane to your backyard or patio. When installing in the corner or edge of the glass rather than the center, Glass Corner Comp Strips are required based on your glass thickness.
